Until a couple of years ago all exports of potted plants from countries like Israel, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, China and Taiwan were done in wooden crates (one-way packaging). Now a lot of these exports to Europe are done using containers from Container Centralen.
In the past, the import and export of potted plants to and from countries outside Europe was quite complicated due to the logistics, and therefore only a few companies were involved in this trade. However, with the introduction of the European standard transportation units and pool system from Container Centralen it is now as simple to export or import goods to and from any country in the world as it is within Europe. The introduction of the European pool system has several advantages: less handling, cost and time savings and being more environmentally friendly. However, first and foremost it facilitates exports to European markets using the CC Container (trolley) which is now the acknowledged standard within the industry. Entering this European pool system has been the fastest and easiest way to access Europe for many exporters from other parts of the world.
CC Collection Service
With CC Collection Service, CC takes care of the customer’s return flow of Returnable Transport Items (RTIs). The customer can select the service level he needs:
Collection of empty transportation units from delivery location (e.g. sales outlet). Delivery to cleaning and/or sorting and/or back to preferred location (e.g., producer or depot). CC Collection Service is often combined with CC Transfer Service.
The main benefit of CC Collection Service is that the customer can focus on optimising the forward flow, and leave the daily hassle of the return flow to CC.
With CC Collection Service you let CC collect your balance of RTIs, e.g. at your customer’s premises and transport them to the nearest CC depot. By giving the job to CC, the collection frequency will be optimised to minimise the cost in the supply chain, and thus your requirements for RTIs will be lowered due to a higher rotation rate. Also you won’t have to set up a special return-flow if it’s a one-off delivery.
CC will work with the transport company that is most competitive in terms of rates and collection frequency to keep the collection fee at a competitive level. The collection fee will be individual per customer location, and will be invoiced per RTI collected according to individual customer prices.
Delivery service is an additional service where you can choose to let CC deliver your balance of RTIs. The delivery fee will be invoiced per RTI delivered according to individual customer prices.
CC Eurocrate (the collapsible crate)
The CC Eurocrate is a range of collapsible plastic crates designed for the transportation of a wide range of food and non-food products through the supply chain directly to supermarket display. The CC Eurocrate is of European standard dimensions, and it has been developed to be suitable for both mechanical and manual handling. For return logistics, it collapses to a fraction of its loaded volume.
CC Eurocrate has a lift-lock closure mechanism, which ensures that the crate does not collapse during mechanical handling processes. The collapsible CC Eurocrate is made in a neutral anthracite grey colour to make sure that the products for sale are the eye catcher ? and not the crate. The lift-lock is light-grey and therefore easily spotted by the person handling the collapsible crate.
CC Eurocrate is made from Polypropylene (PP) virgin material, which can be recycled after use. The bottom of the crate is designed to optimise movement on roll conveyors, and the crate offers good hygiene levels because of the smooth walls, a minimum of ribs, and the positioning of holes which facilitate the draining of water. CC Eurocrates can be used, stored or washed at temperatures from -30° to +70°C.
The crate has the facility of being handled mechanically, filled or empty, from all four sides. Each CC Eurocrate has a stacking strength of up to 400kg load on the corners.
The short 400mm side of the crate has a pocket for labels and space also for sticky labels. The CC Eurocrate is also ready for RFID tag implementation on one long side of the base.
CC Eurocrates can be stacked on CC Rollys, CC Eurocontainers, CC Dollys, CC Rollcontainers and standard Euro pallets, etc.
